Stromness Waste Water
Treatment Works

Full design and construction of a new £2.4m Waste Water Treatment Works to serve a population equivelant to approximately 4000 from Stromness and surrounding areas in Orkney.
The works were located in a greenfield site, with the contract becoming archaeologically sensitive when it became apparent the site access road passed through an ancient burial ground.
Tulloch worked very closely with the Orkney Archaeological Trust and specialist sub-contractors to ensure minimal disruption to the contract during the excavation, assessment and archiving of over 100 individual skeletons and artefacts.
